Roma prepare bid for Gallas -
March-04-10
Roma are apparently trying to tempt Arsenal and France international centre-back William Gallas away from the Emirates this summer.
The Giallorossi have been scouring the market for players who are reaching the end of their contracts in a bid to remain competitive but on the cheap.
Roma director of sport Daniele Prade is already believed to have a verbal agreement with Palermo's Brazilian midfielder Fabio Simplicio and now his attention has turned to Gallas.
The 33-year-old has yet to agree a contract extension with Arsenal and Il Corriere dello Sport wonders whether being stripped of the Arsenal captaincy last year still hurts him.
Claudio Ranieri is said to have encouraged negotiations after having worked with Gallas at Chelsea.
The Tinkerman used Gallas in central defence, but often moved him out left where Roma need to give John-Arne Riise some competition.
