Serie A: Team of the Week - March-09-10

Who impressed enough in Round 27 to make it into the Soccer Italia Team of the Week?
Marco Storari [Sampdoria]
The on-loan Milan shot-stopper has settled in well and was on top form throughout the match. Prevented an almost certain goal from a Rocchi screamer and frustrated both him and Floccari on several occasions. Commanding.

Fabio Grosso [Juventus]
Made the Juve defence look more solid when he came on. He scored the winner after collecting a superb pass from Sissoko and drove a screamer past Frey from a tight angle. Judicious.

Salvatore Bocchetti [Genoa]
A commanding performance at the back saw him deny Milito an almost open goal. Hardly put a foot wrong and had not just the Argentine in the bag but everyone else to. Lippi look no further. Unyielding.

Emiliano Moretti [Genoa]
Controlled things well and, along with Bocchetti, was a true pillar of pure Italian marble. His inspiring guidance flustered the Nerazzurri attack for the whole game. Relentless.

Cristian Zapata [Udinese]
The 23-year-old Colombian international was comfortable for the full 90 minutes. Any inventiveness from Atalanta was stopped in its tracks. Unbeatable in the air, he also made some decisive blocks using his phenomenal body strength. Powerful.

Antonio Candreva [Juventus]
The former Livorno ace cut through the Viola defence like a knife through butter to set up Diego for the first goal. Throughout the game his physical and mental speed kept the hosts’ defence on full alert. Astute.

Diego [Juventus]
Starting to show the reason why Juve paid the big fee for him and rounded Frey as if he wasn’t there for the first goal. Was always a danger and almost scored from a fabulous free-kick. Unstoppable.

Andrea Lazzari [Cagliari]
An all-round good show but gets the vote for his interplanetary missile of a goal. An awesome strike, from a well-worked free-kick routine, screamed in off the bar. Inventive.

Stefano Guberti [Sampdoria]
Roma will want their on-loan winger back after this superb performance. He scored the equaliser with a thunderbolt strike and sent in some great crosses, was also fundamental in Pazzini’s goal. Creative.

Martins Adailton [Bologna]
The Brazilian was brimming with confidence as he scurried about the pitch threatening Napoli at every turn. Scored a clever free-kick that sailed past everybody including De Sanctis and nestled into the top corner. Exceptional.

Marcelo Zalayeta [Bologna]
Stepped up to the plate in the absence of Di Vaio and facing his former teammates exploited a few weaknesses. Was in the right place at the right time to slot the ball home from a few yards out. Worthy.
