Juve make final assault for Dzeko - July-28-10

Juventus will launch a final bid for Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko this week before definitively ending their interest in his services.

The Bosnia international is Juventus’ No 1 transfer target this summer, but Wolfsburg don’t intend to sell him.

Last week, their director general Dieter Hoeness announced that Dzeko had been taken off the market.

The transfer window is still open for just over a month, though, and it’s unrealistic to think more offers won’t arrive.

Juventus want to do a deal for Dzeko in the next seven days, otherwise they will pursue alternatives for the centre-forward position.

Wolfsburg have so far reacted indifferently towards Juventus’ interest, as they only wanted to sell Dzeko to Manchester City in the hope that the Premier League heavyweights would pay top dollar for their prize asset.

Juventus reportedly offered Diego in exchange for Dzeko plus a lump sum in cash, but that bid was rejected.

However, Juventus President Andrea Agnelli is now prepared to make a final offer worth €30m in cash.

Il Corriere dello Sport understands that if Juventus are unsuccessful in their negotiations with Wolfsburg, they will rekindle their interest in Giampaolo Pazzini and Alberto Gilardino.
